Our Story
PAMANA ng LuzViMinda (pa-ma-na nang luz-vi-min-da),
in short PAMANA, was founded in 2005 to represent
Montréal's Philippine community through traditional ethnic songs and dances.PAMANA is a non-profit, youth-led, and volunteer organization focused on providing a safe space for Filipino-Canadian, Filipino-born, and non-Filipino youths to network, develop confidence and explore their cultural identities.
PAMANA's Executive Board, Production Team, and Parents' Committee, and all other members, work to preserve Philippine culture for future generations. We also empower the youth to take on leadership roles within the organization and in their lives.
PAMANA is more than a folkloric dance company;
we are known for dynamic and entertaining performances.PAMANA is a word that translates to "legacy" or "heritage"; While LuzViMInda are the names of Philippine's main islands combined: Luzon, Visaya, and Mindanao. Therefore, "PAMANA ng LuzViMinda" is interpreted as "The legacy/heritage of the Filipino islands of Luzon, Visaya and Mindanao".
PAMANA has had the privilege to learn from other dance groups and professionals! As a dance group of almost 20 years, PAMANA has already performed both nationally and internationally.
